One rate for the whole year is wrong
Most mileage spreadsheets multiply total miles by a single rate. In 2026 that either shorts you or overstates your deduction. Here is a driver with 8,000 business miles, split evenly across the year.
| Method | Miles | Deduction |
|---|---|---|
| Jan 1 – Jun 30 at $0.725 | 4,000 | $2,900.00 |
| Jul 1 – Dec 31 at $0.760 | 4,000 | $3,040.00 |
| Correct split-rate total | 8,000 | $5,940.00 |
| All miles at $0.725 (left on the table) | 8,000 | $5,800.00 |
| All miles at $0.760 (overstated) | 8,000 | $6,080.00 |
The tracker reads each trip's date, picks the rate in effect that day, and shows your first-half and second-half totals separately, the way your tax preparer will ask for them.

Questions
- Does it work in Google Sheets?
- Yes. Upload the .xlsx to Google Drive and open it with Google Sheets. It also works in Excel for Windows, Mac and Microsoft 365.
- Which apps does it support?
- Any. It comes set up for Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Uber Eats, Instacart, Grubhub, Amazon Flex, Walmart Spark and Roadie, and you can rename the list.
- Should I log gas and repairs?
- Not if you use the standard mileage rate. The rate already covers gas, maintenance, insurance and depreciation. The guide tab explains what you can add on top.
- Can I use it next year?
- Yes. Change the tax year in Settings and add the new IRS rate when it's announced.
- Is this tax advice?
- No. It's an organizing tool. The set-aside figure is a savings percentage you choose, not a tax calculation. Check your situation with a tax professional.
